SDA will produce an Audience Research Report and a Business Plan as well as a Management and Maintenance Plan for the Museum. The audience development has included researching a range of current and potential users to participate in ‘focus groups’ which were held at Whitehall last month. We are encouraging visitors to complete surveys on site, sending out questionnaires to regular users of the museum, including Friends, school teachers and nurseries, and approaching local and national organisations such as the Stroke Association, Speak Up Sutton, Mencap and Age Concern UK.
The conservation proposal for Whitehall takes into account the wide range of factors affecting the 16th-century Grade II* listed building and draws upon the building survey which was completed last year. There are specific aspects of the house which need particular attention in order to ensure its long-term maintenance. SDA will compile a plan for the building, the front garden and back garden which will inform our plans for Whitehall’s development and meet HLF guidance on conservation planning.
